Use Grok Bot with your WhatsApp

Let Grok Bot sort your WhatsApp inbox, draft replies and follow-ups, and prepare reminders, with your approval before anything is sent

Grok Bot is the assistant app from xAI, the makers of Grok. The Wassenger template adds a bot to it that works on your WhatsApp inbox: it reviews your conversations, sorts and assigns them, drafts replies and follow-ups, and prepares reminders. Nothing goes to a customer until you approve it.

Add Wassenger to Grok Bot

How it works

The bot connects to your Wassenger account with an API key you create. The key works like a password to your account, so you make one just for this bot and can delete it at any time. With that key it can read your chats and contacts, add labels and internal notes, assign chats to your team, and draft or schedule messages.

  • You stay in charge. During setup you decide whether the bot sorts your inbox on its own or asks before every change. Messages to customers always need your approval.
  • It works for you, not for your customers. It is an assistant for you and your team, not an auto-reply bot. Your customers keep talking to you on WhatsApp as they do today.
  • Routines prepare, they don't send. The scheduled routines collect what needs your attention and prepare drafts for you to check.
  • Grok Bot is a separate app. It needs a paid plan that includes it, billed separately from Wassenger. You use it on your computer or your phone, and the bot keeps working on Grok Bot's servers when your computer is off.

What you can use it for

  • Answer faster. Ask who is still waiting for an answer and get a reply draft for each one, written from the conversation and your business facts.
  • Keep the inbox in order. Have the bot suggest labels, notes and owners for every new chat, so your team knows what to pick up.
  • Stop losing sales. Find people who asked about a price or a booking and went quiet, and send each a short follow-up once you have read it.
  • Cut no-shows. Turn the appointments mentioned in chats into reminders, with the recipients, times and text shown to you before anything is scheduled.
  • See your week. Get a summary of the main questions, the chats still waiting, the people most likely to buy and what to do next.

These suit businesses that sell, book or support customers over WhatsApp: shops, clinics, salons, agencies, schools and service teams.

Before you start

You need:

  • The Grok Bot app on your computer (Mac, Windows or Linux) to set it up. Once it's ready, you can also chat with the bot from the Grok Bot app on your phone.
  • A paid Grok Bot plan that includes it. Grok Bot's subscription is separate from Wassenger.
  • A Wassenger account with your WhatsApp number connected. Don't have one yet? Create your account.

Check the current download and plan details on the Grok Bot site.

Set it up

  1. Select Add Wassenger to Grok Bot. On the template page, select Add to Grok Bot or Open the app, check the template, then select Add Bot.
  2. Open the new Wassenger bot in Grok Bot. Setup starts on its own. If it doesn't, send Start.
  3. In Wassenger, open Developers → API keys and create a key just for Grok Bot. Keep that page open.
  4. When the bot asks for the key, paste it in the bot's chat and approve the Wassenger connection.
  5. Wait for the bot to confirm it is connected. If you have more than one WhatsApp number, pick the one it should manage. Then answer its questions about your business, language, tone, opening hours, timezone, team and how much it may do without asking.
  6. Ask for an inbox preview. Check the labels, notes and assignments it suggests before you apply them.
  7. Decide whether to turn on any routines. They start paused. Confirm your timezone and the times you want first.
About the key. The bot needs this key to reach your Wassenger account. When you paste it into the Grok Bot chat, the AI can see it, and it may stay saved in that chat and in the bot's settings. Only continue if you're fine with that. Use a key made only for Grok Bot, so you can delete it later without affecting anything else.

Only account owners and admins can create API keys. If you can't, ask one of them for a key made just for Grok Bot.

Five things to ask your bot

Copy a request with the button next to it and paste it in your Grok Bot chat. Copying only copies the text: nothing is sent and nothing runs in WhatsApp.

Sort the inbox

In Wassenger, review my WhatsApp conversations from the last 7 days. Group them into urgent requests, new leads, existing customers and resolved questions. Show the labels and teammate assignments you suggest before changing anything.

You get a sorted preview of your inbox with suggested labels and owners.

Answer waiting customers

In Wassenger, find customers whose latest WhatsApp message still needs an answer. Put the ones waiting longest during my business hours first and draft a helpful reply for each. Use only my saved business information and ask me when a fact is missing. Show me the drafts before sending.

You get a list of waiting customers, each with a reply draft to check.

Follow up with quiet leads

In Wassenger, find up to 10 leads who contacted us on WhatsApp but have gone quiet for at least 3 business days. Leave out anyone who asked us to stop. Draft a short, friendly follow-up from each conversation, and show me the drafts for approval.

You get follow-up drafts that skip anyone who opted out.

Prepare appointment reminders

In Wassenger, review WhatsApp conversations for appointments tomorrow in my business timezone. Show the appointment times you found, ask me about anything unclear, and draft a reminder for each. Show the recipients, exact send times and message text. Wait for my approval before scheduling anything.

You get a reminder plan with recipients, times and drafts. Nothing is scheduled until you approve it.

Get a weekly summary

In Wassenger, summarise my WhatsApp inbox for the last 7 days: the main customer questions, conversations still waiting, promising leads and next actions. Use the data you have, keep facts apart from suggestions, and tell me if a number I asked for isn't available.

You get a weekly digest built from your real data, with no made-up figures.

When you later ask the bot to send, it checks each message first and skips anyone who asked to stop. If a customer last wrote more than 24 hours ago, WhatsApp may only let you send them a message that WhatsApp approved in advance (a template). In that case the bot uses one of your approved templates, or leaves that customer out if none fits.

Routines

The bot comes with four routines, all paused when you add it:

Routine What it prepares
Morning brief A summary of what came in and what needs your attention
Waiting customers Reply drafts for customers who are still waiting
Evening follow-ups Follow-up drafts for leads who went quiet, and reminders for dates mentioned in chats
Weekly report Chat volume, reply times and the main topics of the week

Their times are only suggestions. You choose your timezone and which ones to turn on. Routines prepare drafts; they never send messages to customers on their own. What the weekly report can show depends on the data your Wassenger plan includes.

Stop or disconnect

  • Stop the routines: pause them in Grok Bot.
  • Cut the bot's access: delete its key in Developers → API keys.
  • Check scheduled messages: messages that are already scheduled stay scheduled. Deleting the key or pausing a routine doesn't cancel them, so review them in Wassenger.

Troubleshooting

The app didn't open. Open Grok Bot yourself, then open the template link again and choose Open the app. Download and plan details are on the Grok Bot site.

The key is refused. Check it is a Wassenger key from this same account, that it is still active, and that you copied it without extra spaces or text. Never post a key in a support ticket, a screenshot or a public page.

The bot says it isn't connected yet. Let it finish its connection check before you ask for anything else. If the check fails, check the key (see the point above) and that your WhatsApp number is connected in Wassenger.

The preview is empty. That can be right if no one wrote recently. Check which number the bot is using and the date range you asked for.
